Changes have been made in both the format and the broadcast times for
the programs being produced by KPNX Phoenix Channel 12 on medical aid in
dying (MAID). All times are AZ (Mountain) time. Please pay close
attention to both dates and times. Here are the new details: Monday, Feb. 10 -- 10 p.m. Channel 12 News: the first of Chief Anchor Mark Curtis' two-part MAID report will be broadcast. Tuesday, Feb.11 -- 7:00 p.m. Instead of the live town hall arrangement originally proposed, the station has opted for a Facebook live streaming
panel discussion with participants representing both support and
opposition for the proposed MAID bill we have introduced in the Arizona
Legislature. See additional details below Tuesday, Feb 11 -- 10 p.m. Channel 12 News: the second half of the MAID report will be broadcast. This segment will air after the live streaming panel discussion. Live streaming,
for those unfamiliar, is the ability to transmit or receive live video
and audio coverage of an event over the Internet. As promised, here
is the link to the Channel 12 Facebook page so people can start to
check it out. Be sure to share the link with your family and friends. https://www.facebook.com/events/188279995748627/
We will be adding info/videos/web story here as well.
The panel -- selected by Channel 12 --
will include Dr. Tom Fitch, MD, and Dr. Dwight Moore, PhD, both
representing the "pro" aspect of MAID. On the "con" side of the
discussion will be Cathi Herrod, president of the Center for Ariizona
Policy, and Dr. Mohamed Zuhdi Jasser, MD.
The discussion format will also allow
for comments and questions from a small studio audience, which may
include proponents from both sides of the discussion. The session
is not open to the public.
